“May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us.”—From a chain email my mom forwarded to me. Bless her heart, she doesn’t get the whole, you don’t have to forward every little spam thing you get….but in this case, I was happy about that, because it’s a sweet message after all. Hope you’ve all had a good start to your week.
“It’s a great community of friends, and music is spiritual food. I’m in a privileged position in my band, because we’re playing my music. My approach to working with musicians is that if you want to play with these people, you should let them play. When we’re all 20 we wanted to get our licks in. As time goes by you realize that you’re a member of a team, and it’s important to listen to the other people on stage.”—I love this quote from James Taylor, speaking candidly at a songwriting session in Boston, because my lord is it true. My talented band has taught me this time & time again, how to listen, and how to let each other create through the space.
